Vandal, a sandwich shop, has taken root in a small 20m² space on a quiet street in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, just steps away from the Parc des Buttes Chaumont.
The space has been completely renovated, beginning with the original, closed-off façade, which was replaced by a large picture window.
Inside, the layout is divided into two distinct areas. At the back of the room, the open kitchen was designed as a light box. With its strong, bright white lighting, the kitchen catches the eye from the street.
In contrast, the seating area at the front is softly lit by two large parallel light fixtures, each positioned above a table. Designed specifically for the restaurant by Cent 15, these fixtures emit a warm, intimate glow.
The polished concrete floor extends partway up the walls. A visual line at 1.60 meters marks the transition to a rougher sprayed plaster that continues to the ceiling.
The kitchen counter fronts are clad in large electro-galvanized steel panels, creating a clear boundary between the kitchen and the dining area.
The tables and seating, with their highly geometric forms, were conceived as stone-like blocks.
